LO4 Relevant personal information
Relevant skills
Digital Graphics
Over recent years I have gradually become very proficient in digital graphics media. This is due to my natural flair in creativity and design. I have become more confident and trustworthy in my abilities in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. This has helped me when pursuing graphic design and print based design projects.
Camera skills
I have developed my camera skills as of late. This development has helped me when pursuing photography projects. I have acquired knowledge on modern DSLR cameras that use, aperture, ISO and shutter speed.
Communication
I believe myself to be a competent speaker and communicator. I have had lots of practice pitching to clients and professionals in various industry fields, this means my pitching an presenting ability is developed and competent. Communication is one of the most important abilities an individual can have because it remains involved in group work, leadership and individual work.
Creative
I have always been creatively inclined and pursued a mostly artistic and creative school life. I enjoy using this creativity whenever I can because it often produces a unique output to a mundane problem.
Computer
Computers have been around me the majority of my life, and naturally I have become good at using them to help achieve goals and manage work load. However I don't believe a computer is always the solution to a problem like most people.

LO3 Understand potential career
In order to pursue a career in advertising there are few different paths to follow. The first of thee paths is the higher education, this means following a university course that includes a marketing and advertising course structure. The higher education route is the most common for people going into the advertising industry. Another method for pursuing a career in advertising is going for an apprenticeship in the industry. Another method is to go through higher education and then go on an internship to get work experience in the field.

Resources to start a creative business
Starting an ad agency
Starting an Advertising agency is an exciting experience for most proffesionals in the field, however it is unusual for an individual going in to the field to start an agency without any previous industry experience. A more common approach to entering the field on a self employed basis would be to work freelance.
resources for start up
The starting resources needed to work in advertising on a self employed basis aren't massive. An agency can be started with limited cost as long as the business remains small. All that is required to start an agency is a computer, a website and some self promotion.
Freelance creative for advertising

LO2 Evaluating personal qualities
My personal qualities
I believe I have good personal qualities that would fit my work in the creative industry. These personal qualities include having both a creative and business mindset, I beleive this to be the most important because it means I am competent with my creative abilities whilst also being business wise and understanding in finance and business. My presenting abilities are also good due to the practice I have had at my college. This experience is a testament to my willingness to prove I am hard working and show leadership abilities. Other qualities that i possess are reliability and patience when pursuing creative projects that require initiative and unique thinking.

LO1 Research potential careers, employment and higher education options
Potential careers
I have a very varied media skill set so finding a sector in the media industry that suits me is difficult. I believe that I could be suited to the advertising sector. This is because there are a large variety of skills that are needed to succeed in this field.
The website creativeskillset.org is an invaluable resource when looking for a career to pursue. Advertising has many different careers within the sector, ranging from account manager to graphic artist. Out of all the jobs involved in advertising the job that appeals to me the most is Creative Director, this is because it involves both the creative side of advertising that comes with copywriting and the business aspect that's involved in nurturing a creative environment and pleasing clients. Creative director requires strong leadership skills as well as capable communication and presenting ability and a unique creative mindset.
The qualifications needed for creative director are minimal as previous experience and talent are more appealing to agencies. A strong portfolio of commercially successful work is also desirable.
Typically a creative director makes there way up to the position through work as a copy writer or art directors. However it has been known that talented and successful individuals can jump to the position. The position of creative director can lead to a role in the leadership of the agency.
Employment
Employment in the media industry is high at the moment, due to the recent wave of new technology start ups. These start ups are looking for talented and creatively wired people to help build and progress their business. Graphic designers are on constant demand for publishing companies like Penguin Books. Web designers are in demand because of the recent surge for website creation. Another job role which currently has high employablitiy is marketing employees who can help push a unique new vision for advertising.
Higher education
To make a career in the media industry the most common way is to go through further education at an university level. Universities offer a large variety of courses that provide ways into the media industry. These courses can be largely creatively focused as well as business and marketing focused. I would prefer a course that offered a business standing point with some creativity mixed in for project work. This could be a course like communication and graphic design or and advertising BA.
